Three schools. One week. A new taste of athletics for kids across Weipa.

Through Rio Tinto Athletics for the Outback, Run Jump Throw sessions were delivered across the region, introducing young people to the basics of track and field and giving them the chance to try activities they may not otherwise experience locally.

For the kids, it meant learning new skills, meeting people from outside the region and discovering what they could do. For those delivering the program, seeing the smiles, energy and excitement made the experience just as rewarding.

And sometimes, success is as simple as one child trying something for the first time, realising they can do it and walking away proud.
