A flooded plaza in front of a shopping mall in Bangkok was transformed into a temporary floating market on Monday as floodwaters continued to inundate parts of the Thai capital.⁣
⁣
Sellers waded through knee-deep water to sell fish, vegetables and other essentials from floating platforms and foam boxes.⁣
⁣
Buyers navigated the makeshift market on foot, in boats and on improvised floating objects as heavy rain continued.⁣
⁣
One shop owner said she was losing at least 3,000 baht ($90) a day because of the flooding, while another said residents were struggling to access food and other necessities.⁣
⁣
Bangkok was declared a disaster-affected area on Saturday after nearly 30cm of rain fell over 48 hours.⁣
⁣
Flooding has affected 41 provinces across Thailand since September 16, killing at least eight people and affecting more than 580,000 homes, according to the Interior Ministry.⁣
