Israel’s ambassador to the US, Yechiel Leiter, said his son was the soldier seriously injured in a car-ramming attack in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday.⁣
⁣
Israeli police said a Palestinian driver rammed a car at high speed toward a policewoman and a soldier conducting vehicle checks near the settlement of Beit Horon, west of Ramallah.⁣
⁣
The attacker was killed by Israeli forces, police said. The soldier was seriously injured and taken to hospital.⁣
⁣
Leiter said his son, Neria, underwent complex brain surgery and remained in critical condition. “Neria needs a miracle,” he said in a post on X.⁣
Leiter also said Neria continued serving in the reserves after his older brother, Moshe Yedidya Leiter, was killed in action in Gaza in November 2023.⁣
⁣
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other politicians expressed support for the family.⁣
