Hurricane Polo became one of the strongest hurricanes EVER in the eastern Pacific on Tuesday, with a minimum central pressure of 892 mb. That's the 2nd lowest pressure EVER In the eastern Pacific, behind only 2015's Hurricane Patricia.
Polo's sustained winds of 180 mph Tuesday were the third strongest EVER in the eastern Pacific, behind only 1997's Hurricane Linda (185 mph), and Patricia's incredible 215 mph SUSTAINED winds. All of these storms had higher gusts.

Polo also joined the list of strongest hurricanes ever in the World. In terms of minimum central pressure, 23 Typhoons have had lower pressure in the western Pacific, 2 Cyclones in the south west Pacific, Patricia in the eastPac, and 2 Hurricanes in the Atlantic have had lower pressure.
In terms of strongest sustained winds, the 215 mph winds of Hurricane Patricia in 2015 are the world's strongest ever. 
Hurricane Linda had 185 mph winds in 1997, and 6 hurricanes had stronger winds in the Atlantic. That puts Polo's 180 mph winds as (tied) for the 9th strongest in the World EVER. #hurricane #polo #HurricanePolo #tropics #nhc
