Winter is coming, and your future self will be very glad you planned ahead.
If a little sunshine is already sounding appealing, these are the winter escapes I’d have on my radar:

THE CARIBBEAN
For the classic winter escape. December through April is the window to look at.

    •    Jumby Bay Island, Antigua
    •    Rosewood Little Dix Bay, Virgin Gorda
    •    Cheval Blanc St-Barth
    •    La Samanna, A Belmond Hotel, St Martin

THE RIVIERA MAYA
A lovely choice if you want beach time with plenty to do beyond the hotel. I’d look at December through March for a winter trip.

    •    Hotel Esencia
    •    Rosewood Mayakoba
    •    Maroma, A Belmond Hotel

FURTHER AFIELD
If you’re ready to make a bigger trip of it, these are worth the journey:

    •    JOALI Maldives - December through April is the drier season, so it fits beautifully into a winter travel calendar.
    •    Six Senses Zil Pasyon, Seychelles - for a March getaway, as the wetter season begins to ease.
    •    One&Only Le Saint Géran, Mauritius - for tropical warmth. You’ll certainly get that in February and March, though they’re also the island’s wettest months, so it’s worth going in with that in mind.
    •    Rosewood Kauri Cliffs, New Zealand - for a completely different kind of winter escape. December through February is summer there, with long days to explore the coastline and countryside.
