According to reporting by Rob Dawson, Manchester City were made aware of the Premier League’s findings in July, after having already agreed to a deal for Elliot Anderson for a then-British transfer record.

Following the departures of John Stones, Bernardo Silva, and Rodri, Manchester City overhauled their midfield, spending over $270m alone on both Enzo Fernández and Ayyoub Bouaddi.

During the drastic squad overhaul, City sold upwards of $450m worth of players to freshen up for Enzo Maresca’s first season in charge.
