Headlining our upcoming Important Watches live sale in November is this 2001 George Daniels Millennium wristwatch, produced for the son of Daniels’ longtime friend, David Roscoe, and personally engraved ‘HBR00.’ Fresh to the market and offered by the original owner, the timepiece remains a remarkably complete expression of Daniels’ life’s work. 

Here, Sotheby’s Daryn Schnipper shares the story of working with Daniels personally, the significance of the Millennium in his career, and his greatest mechanical achievement: the co-axial escapement.
