China is quietly buying Claude at 90% off

Claude isn't officially available in China, so an underground layer of "transfer stations" sits in between. 

You send a prompt; it routes through an approved country, and the answer comes back, openly sold on Taobao and Telegram, ranked by price and uptime.

Some resellers pool Max plan quotas meant for one user and resell them to hundreds, squeezing far more value per dollar. 

Others quietly swap in cheaper models while claiming it's Opus.

Anthropic alleges DeepSeek, Moonshot, and MiniMax ran industrial-scale distillation campaigns, over 16 million Claude conversations harvested through roughly 24,000 fake accounts, to train their own cheaper models.
