Plant Care 101: Some Things Need Pruning 🌱

And then comes the part that hurts.

Sometimes you look back at somebody you called a friend and realize:

You were never really my friend.

Not because our lives turned out differently.
Not because you went to school.
Not because you wanted designer things or chose a different version of success.

But because somewhere along the way, you decided your version of success gave you permission to look down on mine.

And I didn’t recognize it then.

I recognize it now.

That’s the thing about growth.

Once you’re healthy enough, you start recognizing what was feeding you and what was quietly competing with you.

What was supporting your roots and what was judging the way you grew.

Some relationships don’t end because somebody became the villain.

Sometimes you simply grow enough to finally see the relationship for what it always was.

And yeah…

Sometimes that realization will make you cry.

But pruning doesn’t mean the plant failed.

Sometimes pruning is exactly why it survives.

Rooted. Sovereign. Whole.
