100 applications. One rep who actually shows up on Monday.

In our experience, that's roughly the math when recruiting commission-based sales reps.

About 80 of those applications get screened out. They aren't worth a conversation.

The other 20 go through your full recruiting process. If you're good at it, 2 verbally say yes. One of them signs the agreement and shows up for new hire orientation.

Most organizations spend around 10 hours to get that one rep into onboarding.

So yes, recruiting is a volume game. But volume alone won't fill your team.

Recruiting is also a persuasion game. Every strong candidate is asking one question: why should I work for you instead of everyone else?

Your leadership, culture, growth plans, sales model, comp plan, onboarding, and path into leadership all have to answer that, clearly and at scale.

If you're only filtering candidates and not selling your opportunity, your funnel breaks at the "yes."

This week, write out your answer to "Why would a top rep choose us over every other option?" Then check whether your job ad and first interview actually say it.
