One of President Reagan’s underrated superpowers was his sense of humor.

When things went wrong, he found a way to laugh at the moment and keep moving forward. There’s a lesson in that: be assertive when it matters, but don’t lose your sense of humor along the way. We can laugh at difficult moments while still taking violence and dehumanization seriously.

Sometimes, humor helps us stay human while we do the hard work of solving serious problems.
