Before open-world police games, there was Future Cop: LAPD—a PlayStation mech shooter where “crowd control” meant rolling into the city with enough firepower to level the opposition.

You play as the X1-Alpha, a heavily armed police mech navigating futuristic streets, taking on enemy infantry, vehicles, turrets, and a massive red gun vehicle blocking the route to the gate. The isometric camera, dispatcher commands, and dramatic “intruder alert” moments give the whole mission a classic late-’90s sci-fi arcade feel.

It is equal parts police simulator, mech battle, and chaotic retro action game—and that combination is exactly why it still stands out.

Did you play Future Cop: LAPD on the original PlayStation, or are you discovering it for the first time?
