To escape religious persecution and severe poverty, immigrants from Europe crossed the Atlantic in hope of a brighter future in America, enduring a month of rough seas and seasickness along the way. In this clip from the "City Arts" segment "Ellis Island," immigrants share memories of rushing to the ship’s rails at the sight of the Statue of Liberty and the anxious wait at Ellis Island to be cleared for entry.
