Just before the start of the school year, 21 members of the Class of 2027 attended our Senior Companions Retreat in Midland, Ontario, Canada, held at the site of the North American Martyrs Shrine.

The group prayed and celebrated Mass at the site of the saints' martyrdom, visited their burial site and also celebrated Mass at the altar of St. Pope John Paul II’s visit more than 40 years ago.

The students spent the three-day, two-night retreat without any phones or technology.

Director of Campus Ministry Fr. Chuck Frederico led the retreat with Campus Ministers Ron Ahrens '91 and Mikayla Fulton, Campus Ministry Associate William Miller and Society of Jesus candidate Andy Jung.

This past weekend saw a group head to the Adirondack Mountains for our Wilderness Retreat.

Next week will see the first of our regular school-year retreats as students and adult group leaders lead the 131st edition of Kairos, our hallmark retreat for juniors. Emmaus, geared towards sophomores, begins in October.

Our CHS Companions retreat program, in which juniors participate in immersion service trips has been expanded this year to six different trips. There will be CHS Companions trips to Montana, Puerto Rico, San Diego, St. Louis and two separate trips to New Orleans.

Students and families interested in our unique CHS Campus Ministry programs and the excellence only found in a Jesuit education at Canisius – ranked as the Buffalo area’s “Best Catholic School” by Buffalo Business First – can learn more by reserving a spot at our Open House on Sunday, Oct. 18 or Monday, Oct.19 via canisiushigh.org/openhouse

This place is special. Let us show you why.
