THIS MIGHT BE ONE OF THE WEIRDEST ROBOTS EVER BUILT. 💀🤖

Japan’s University of Electro-Communications developed “Licker” — a flexible robotic tongue designed to recreate realistic human licking.

Researchers studied real tongue movements and tried to replicate not just the motion, but also the softness, moisture, and slippery texture.

And the reason they built it?

To explore whether licking could create social bonding across species. 😭

The project was even recognized with an Honourable Mention at SIGGRAPH Asia 2019.

Robotics really has no limits. 💀

Save this for the next time someone says they’ve seen everything.
