🎃 Halloween Safety Tips from North Central Fire Protection District

For Trick-or-Treaters & Costumes
1️⃣ Choose flame-resistant materials.
 • Look for costumes, wigs, and accessories labeled flame-resistant or flame-retardant.
 • Avoid long or loose fabric that can brush against open flames.
2️⃣ Use safer lighting.
 • Try battery candles or glow sticks instead of real candles in pumpkins and décor.
3️⃣ Keep costumes short and snug.
 • Prevent trips and reduce fire risk.
4️⃣ Be visible.
 • Add reflective tape or glow accessories and carry a flashlight.
5️⃣ Stay clear of open flames.
 • Teach kids to stay away from candles and fire pits.
 • If clothing catches fire—STOP, DROP & ROLL.

🚗 For Drivers
1️⃣ Slow down & stay alert—especially in neighborhoods.
2️⃣ Avoid distractions; keep phones down.
3️⃣ Turn on headlights early.
4️⃣ Watch for kids between parked cars and near driveways.

🔥 For Homeowners
• Keep jack-o’-lanterns and candles away from walkways and doors.
• Use LED lights instead of open flames.
• Keep exits clear in case of emergency.

Stay safe and have a fun Halloween! 👻🎃
