The Voice of the Cowboys Dave Hunziker sits down with Jordan Rutherford, Oklahoma State's assistant director of scouting. A former Oklahoma small college standout who played professionally in Spain, Rutherford begins his third season on the Oklahoma State men's basketball staff and first in the new role of assistant director of scouting. He’s tasked with helping head coach Steve Lutz and staff with a variety of day-to-day tasks tied to operations, scouting and player development.

Rutherford owns a marketing/management degree from Oklahoma Christian. He played three seasons for the Eagles (2013-16) under legendary head coach Dan Hays and helped the school through a successful transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II. He was a starter during the program’s first full year of D-II membership (2015-16) and led the team in assists.

Following Hays’ retirement, Rutherford transferred to St. Gregory’s in Shawnee, Okla. where he averaged 17.2 points and 6.5 rebounds his way to third team All-Sooner Athletic Conference status. He was one of the NAIA’s top shooters that year, knocking down 42% of his threes and 90.4% from the free throw line (No. 3 nationally).
