Before the headlines and the trial, there was Cherica Adams, a 24 year old Charlotte native who modeled, worked and came from a big, loving family. On November 16, 1999, Cherica was eight months pregnant when a car pulled up beside hers and someone opened fire. She was sh*t four times. Still bleeding, she called 911 and told the dispatcher that the car in front of her, driven by her boyfriend, Panthers wide receiver Rae Carruth, had slowed down and stopped right before the sh**ting. That call became the center of the case. Her son, Chancellor, was delivered by emergency C-section and born with cerebral palsy. Cherica d*ed a month later. Carruth was found hiding in the trunk of a car in Tennessee and was later convicted of conspiracy to commit m*rder. He was released in 2018. Cherica’s mother, Saundra, raised Chancellor, who graduated high school at 21 and just turned 26. The word she keeps coming back to is forgiveness. Cherica Adams told the truth in her last conscious minutes, and the case was built on her words. This is Baller Alert: Beyond The Headlines. #news #history#black#blacktiktok #fyp
