Beginner Catchers, Read This⬇️

This video is from 3 years ago🤯 but I still agree with what I was teaching. Here are the core points to a kickback style of blocking:

• glove goes down first 
• throwing hand behind mitt 
• knees replace feet 
 - it’s not a big hop up and down, imagine your standing on
  a rug, and behind you, someone’s pulling that rug out from beneath you 
• chest at 45 ish degree angle 
• catch the ball with your belly button (not in the video, but adding this point)

Getting your blocking form down is easy. Becoming a consistent blocker behind the plate in a real game is a bit tougher.

I was laughing at myself when I said I’m a “firm believer” of being a sponge, not a brick wall. Which, in fact I do still like to use that analogy. But brick wall does indeed just sound cooler lol
