Nobody told me flights to St Maarten were less than $300 flying out of DFW, so I’m telling you ✈️🏝️

I just spent the past 7 days on the island celebrating my 30th birthday and I’m sharing with you part one of my itinerary + helpful tips to plan your stay ✨ FUN FACT: I’ve been to 32+ countries and I loveee solo trips!

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: 

🚗 Rent a car — if you’re staying longer than a few days, you’ll definitely want to rent a car because it ends up being cheaper than paying for taxis.

⛱️ Make beach club reservations in advance — all of my beach club reservations were made before I even got to the island because I know how quickly they sell out. 

🏝️ Try different local spots outside of the hyped up ones — when you get there ask locals for their recommendations or try to find the more hidden gem spots versus what you see on social media. In my opinion, the best food was on the french side! The aunties know how to cook 🔥

💸 Bring cash for eating out — some of the best spots were cash only so make sure you have enough cash to cover a few meals in case you decide you want to visit those spots 

💳 Tap to pay is widely accepted — outside of the few spots that are cash only tap to pay is readily available

🌞 The sun is HOT — this is so obvious, but don’t forget to wear sunscreen because the sun is brutal, this includes spf for your lips!

🌊 Explore random beaches — St Maarten has some of the bluest waters so you’re going to want to explore a few different beaches before you leave (like Cupecoy and Orient Bay)

✨ On a budget? Skip the beach clubs — you can honestly get similar levels of service at a random beach hut that has beach chairs and umbrellas for way cheaper and the same access to the same beaches as the beach clubs.
