If there was any question about whether David Stearns was sitting on the hot seat, Steve Cohen sent a pretty clear message.

After a brutal 74-88 season that saw the Mets miss the playoffs for the second consecutive year and finish dead last in the NL East, it would have been fair to wonder whether changes were coming to the top of the organization. Apparently, those changes won’t include Stearns.

Cohen put the speculation to bed earlier this season, telling the New York Post that Stearns would see out the remainder of his five-year contract.

Stearns is now entering year 4 of his deal, which runs through the 2028 season. Barring a major change of course from Cohen, he’ll have at least the next two seasons to get the Mets back on track. #Mets #LFGM #DavidStearns
