Andy Burnham has just dropped a properly massive plan for Britain 🇬🇧⁠

In his first Labour conference speech as prime minister, he promised a publicly owned Great British Grid, a route for failing water companies to return to public ownership and plans for a National Care Service modelled on the NHS.⁠

He also announced protections for newly built council homes, stronger powers to bring long-term empty properties back into use, leasehold reform and more technical education, apprenticeships and work placements for young people.⁠

VAT on household electricity will drop to zero from Thursday, while single bus fares across England will be capped at £2 throughout 2027.⁠

The biggest argument could be over how it is all funded, with Burnham planning to reform the state pension triple lock from 2030 to help pay for social care.⁠
