The only reason you're ever going to forgive someone for cheating on you and take them back is because you have no self-respect, no boundaries, or you're desperate.

If you have self-respect, and you know this person was having sex with someone else behind your back, you need to understand something:

They didn't come back because suddenly you're the love of their life.

They came back because the relationship they actually wanted didn't work out the way they thought it would.

And now you're the convenient option.

You're the backup plan.

They get to go explore whatever fantasy they had with someone else, discover that it wasn't what they expected, and then come crawling back to the person they knew would still be there.

And if you take them back without any real consequences, you're teaching them something very important:

They can betray you.

They can lie to you.

They can sleep with someone else.

They can come back crying and saying they're sorry.

And you'll still accept them.

That's not unconditional love.

That's a lack of boundaries.

Because when you have self-respect, you understand that forgiveness and reconciliation are two completely different things.

You can forgive someone without giving them access to you again.

You can love someone and still decide that what they did permanently disqualified them from being your partner.

You don't need to hate them.

You don't need revenge.

You just need enough self-respect to say:

"You made your choice. Now live with it."
