Texas picked up its first SEC win under head coach Margueritte Bates, blanking Ole Miss 2-0 on the road at Ole Miss Soccer Stadium behind goals from Ashlyn Anderson and Ava McDonald.

Texas wasted no time, striking just 70 seconds into the match when Anderson slipped a goal past the Ole Miss defense off a feed from Alicia Riggins, her third goal in as many matches and the Longhorns' quickest tally to start a contest since August. The early punch forced Ole Miss to settle in fast, and the Rebels responded well, putting together a five-minute stretch in which Teaghan Irvin, Sarah Granno and Maizy Kluksdal all tested Texas goalkeeper Bayliss Flynn. Ole Miss kept pushing the rest of the half, out-shooting Texas 9-6, but couldn't find an equalizer and went into the break trailing 1-0.

Texas doubled its lead five minutes into the second half. After Ole Miss junior forward Peyton Dyess picked up a yellow card on a challenge, the Longhorns capitalized on the resulting free kick, with Vivian Geesbreght slipping a pass into the box for McDonald, who ripped a shot into the bottom right corner for her fourth goal of the season. Ole Miss continued to push, earning four corner kicks over the final 25 minutes and finishing with a 16-13 edge in shots and a 7-4 advantage in corners, but Flynn held firm, finishing with six saves to preserve Texas's sixth clean sheet of the season. Sarah Granno led the Rebels with three shots, while Evie Ewing, Ghoreishi and Ryann Reynolds each added two.

The win improved Texas to 6-2-3 overall and 1-1-2 in SEC play, marking the program's first conference victory of the Bates era. Ole Miss fell to 7-5 overall and 0-4 in SEC play, continuing to search for its first conference win of the season despite a spirited offensive showing.
