No. 16 Texas A&M opened SEC play with a dominant sweep of South Carolina, winning 25-14, 25-14, 25-18 at Reed Arena behind a career night from Taryn Morris.

South Carolina opened the first set with an early 2-1 lead, but Texas A&M answered with a 4-0 run to take control at 12-5, forcing a Gamecocks timeout. The Aggies kept pouring it on, going on a 5-0 run late to push the score to 20-9 and cruising to a 25-14 win. Texas A&M carried that momentum straight into the second set, opening with seven unanswered points behind Margot Manning's serving, and South Carolina never found a way back in, with Morris closing out the frame for another 25-14 win. The third set was more competitive, with the teams trading the first three points before Texas A&M pulled away on a 6-1 run to lead 9-4. South Carolina made a late push, cutting the deficit to five, but a service error ended the Gamecocks' rally and sealed the 25-18 finish.

Morris was the story of the match, finishing with 15 kills and zero errors for a scorching .682 hitting percentage, part of a Texas A&M attack that hit a season-best .385 as a team. South Carolina got contributions from Ceci Vance and Olivia Borgman, who each came up with timely kills to keep the Gamecocks within striking distance at various points, but the Aggies' offensive efficiency proved too much to overcome.

The win improved Texas A&M to 8-5 overall and 1-0 in SEC play, extending the defending national champions' record to 8-1 when winning the first set and 3-1 in conference openers under head coach Jamie Morrison. South Carolina fell to 7-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play in its first ranked match of the season.
