Auburn special teams turned the game with a blocked punt in the second quarter, and the Tigers made it hold up for a 21-15 win over Vanderbilt at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Auburn improved to 3-1 by fending off a late Commodore push, with Vanderbilt also falling to 3-1 in a game that stayed tight into the fourth quarter.

Vanderbilt struck first on Brock Taylor's 39-yard field goal, but Byrum Brown answered with a 33-yard touchdown pass to Chas Nimrod to put Auburn ahead 7-3 late in the first quarter. The margin grew before halftime when Omari Mabson II blocked a punt and Cam Carlson returned it 10 yards for a touchdown, sending Auburn into the break up 14-3. Vanderbilt trimmed the deficit in the third quarter on a 3-yard touchdown run by Slade Alexander, though the two-point try failed, but Brown restored a two-score cushion moments later with a 2-yard touchdown run of his own, making it 21-9. Taylor kept chipping away in the fourth quarter with field goals of 47 and 45 yards, pulling Vanderbilt within 21-15, but the Commodores could not find the go-ahead score. Brown finished 18-of-27 for 140 yards and a touchdown with an interception, and Jeremiah Cobb added 58 yards on eight carries to anchor the Auburn ground game. Jared Curtis threw for 199 yards on 22-of-33 passing for Vanderbilt, and Junior Sherrill hauled in six catches for 95 yards. Xavier Atkins paced the Auburn defense with eight tackles and a sack.

Auburn heads to Tennessee next, while Vanderbilt travels to face Georgia.
