WOULD YOU TATTOO THESE 5 CLIENTS? 👀

Every one has a reason I wouldn’t.

Can you spot all 5? →

⚠️ DON’T CHEAT.

First, look through all 5 pictures and comment your guesses below. 👇🏼

What do you see? What questions would you ask? And WHY would you not perform PMU on each client?

Write your answers BEFORE you keep reading.

Then come back here and see if you caught all 5. 👀

Okay… ready?

1️⃣ ACTIVE COLD SORE

Absolutely no lip blush over an active cold sore/herpes outbreak. The area needs to be completely healed before tattooing. Clients with a history of cold sores should also be screened appropriately before a lip procedure.

2️⃣ ACTIVE SKIN IRRITATION

Look closely at the brow area. 👀 Redness, inflammation, flaking and compromised skin = we are NOT tattooing it today.

You should never tattoo directly over actively irritated, inflamed, infected or otherwise compromised skin. Let the skin heal first and refer for medical evaluation/clearance when appropriate.

3️⃣ RECENT SKIN TREATMENT

This is why asking the right questions during your consultation matters.

Her skin is visibly red and irritated from a recent cosmetic skin treatment. Even if the client says she feels fine, you need to know WHAT treatment she had and WHEN she had it before deciding whether it’s safe to tattoo.

Sometimes the contraindication isn’t the brows themselves — it’s what happened to the skin before the appointment.

4️⃣ HUNGOVER / ALCOHOL

That Starbucks isn’t fixing this one either ☕️

If your client shows up hungover after drinking heavily the night before, I would reschedule.

Alcohol can contribute to dehydration and can affect bleeding and the overall procedure experience. And if a client appears to still be intoxicated or unable to give informed consent, there should be no procedure at all.

5️⃣ PREGNANCY 🤰🏻

This one should have been easy 😂

Pregnant clients are not eligible for PMU. I also don’t tattoo clients who are currently nursing; I have them wait until after nursing according to my studio protocol.

SOOOO… HOW MANY DID YOU GET RIGHT? 👀
