Jean-Michel Saive reflects on his brother Philippe Saive and what it was like to compete alongside and sometimes against his own brother.

The Saive brothers made history together, winning their first title as a pair in the boys’ doubles at the Belgian National Championships in 1981.

Years later, they helped guide Belgium to the gold medal in the Super Division of the European League, before making history at the 2001 World Table Tennis Championships in Osaka, where they were part of the Belgian team that claimed silver in the Swaythling Cup.

From growing up and competing together to representing Belgium at the highest level, Jean-Michel and Philippe shared a remarkable table tennis journey.

What would it be like for you to play against your own brother?
