Some voices define an era. Some artists become part of the culture. And then there is Ms. Patti LaBelle, whose voice, grace and influence have shaped generations.

At the BMAC Gala, we had the privilege of giving an ICON her flowers.

The incomparable Ms. Patti LaBelle received the BMAC ICON Award, honoring a career and legacy that have forever changed music and culture.

And the surprise? Academy Award nominated filmmaker Lee Daniels, the visionary behind Precious, The Butler and Empire, took the stage to honor a woman whose impact reaches far beyond music.

Two Philadelphia legends. Two cultural forces. One unforgettable moment.

And the love continued through music.

Special thanks to Grammy nominated, multi platinum R&B powerhouse Chanté Moore and Grammy Award winning gospel powerhouse Le’Andria Johnson for delivering a beautiful musical tribute to Ms. Patti LaBelle, with the incredible 1500 or Nothin bringing it all to life.

Powerful. Soulful. And worthy of an icon.

Special thanks to Michele Ballantyne, President and COO of the RIAA, and the entire RIAA team for creating a custom BMAC x RIAA plaque honoring Ms. Patti LaBelle and the extraordinary legacy she continues to build.

This was more than an award.

It was about giving flowers to a woman who has given the world so much through her voice, her spirit and her example.

Congratulations to our 2026 BMAC ICON Award recipient, the legendary Ms. Patti LaBelle. 🖤 #BMACGALA #ICON #PattiLaBelle #BlackMusicActionCoalition
