## Caption

A powerful full circle moment.

Common received the 2026 BMAC Harry Belafonte Change Agent Award, honoring a life and career rooted in purpose, truth, service and using his voice for something bigger than himself.

And then came the surprise.

His mother, Dr. Mahalia Hines, stepped onto the stage to present the award to her son.

A mother honoring the man she raised to lead with courage, compassion and conviction.

Harry Belafonte showed us that real artistry carries responsibility. Common continues that legacy in his own way, through music, activism, storytelling and service.

This was more than an award.

It was legacy meeting legacy.

Congratulations, Common. Well deserved. #BlackMusicActionCoalition #BMACGALA #COMMON #HarryBelafonteChangeAgentAward
