## Caption

This story is part of an ongoing collaboration between The Oregonian/OregonLive and ProPublica. The reporting examines the Followers of Christ, a religious sect with branches in Oregon and in Idaho that practices faith healing. Its members generally refuse to seek medical treatment — for themselves or for their children, sometimes with deadly consequences.
