Ground cinnamon sold in six states including Illinois has been recalled because it could be contaminated with elevated lead levels.

The recall, for Lior Cinnamon Ground Seasoning, was issued Thursday, according to a release posted to the Food and Drug Administration's website. Galil Importing Corp. "immediately" initiated a voluntary recall after a sample collected found high levels. The company said it was notifying customers to stop distributing the cinnamon and place any remaining inventory on hold.
