The best fall foliage experience we’ve had in New England, here’s everything you need to know before you go.

VALUE:

- 3 seating tiers (fall season, adult pricing): Coach $83, Comfort $130, Observation Dome $198
- We went Comfort and highly recommend it, long ride, worth the upgrade
- You can pre-purchase a lunchbox, book it at least 48 hours ahead

EXPERIENCE: 

-From start to finish, this ride was 5 hours long. We took the 1:30 PM departure and arrived back at 6:30 PM.
- The conductor narrates the railway’s history the whole ride
- Best views start on the right side, but you switch seats with your neighbor across the aisle on the way back, so everyone gets both views
- We booked October 1st skeptical of the timing, but the foliage and weather were perfect

PROCESS:

- Book online in advance at conwayscenic.com and check availability, Crawford Notch requires advance purchase
- Seats are assigned by the ticket you book, check your ticket before boarding
- Don’t stress about long lines, your seat is assigned no matter where you stand
- Best timing window: October 1st to October 5
