“This is the house that Rhetorical built.”

Trainer Will Walden’s stable star RHETORICAL delivered once again Saturday at Keeneland, going back-to-back in the Grade I Coolmore Turf Mile Stakes to punch his ticket to the upcoming GI Breeders’ Cup Mile.

A 3x Grade I winner, Rhetorical holds an overall record of seven wins and two thirds from 12 career starts with $2,508,480 earned. Last year, the 5-year-old gelding finished fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Mile.

The New York-bred is owned by Gary Barber, Cheyenne Stable LLC, and Wachtel Stable. Bred by Mallory Mort & Karen Mort, Rhetorical is ridden by Irad Ortiz, Jr.

Rhetorical joins the likes of Dumaani and Gio Ponti to have won the Coolmore Turf Mile in consecutive years.
