Meet Lydell Sargeant, senior director of development and alumni relations in the College of the Liberal Arts and a member of the 2026 University Homecoming Court! 🎉

Lydell is a @pennstate alumnus and former @pennstatefball standout who earned his bachelor’s degree in 2011. A four-year letterman and All-Big Ten cornerback, he was a member of Penn State’s 2005 and 2008 Big Ten Championship teams before continuing his football career with the @buffalobills.

As a student, Lydell made an impact beyond Beaver Stadium through student-athlete leadership and civic engagement. He helped create PSU Votes, now known as @pennstatevotes, a nonpartisan initiative encouraging student voter registration and participation, and was involved in the 2008 presidential campaign, including presenting then-U.S. Sen. Barack Obama with a Penn State football jersey during his visit to Penn State University Park.

After his professional football career, Lydell earned a master’s degree in sport management studies and is currently completing a doctor of education degree in organizational leadership. He went on to build a career in higher education advancement, holding leadership roles at Penn State, UCLA, Morgan State University, Marquette University, and Utah Valley University.

Throughout his career, Lydell has remained connected to Penn State, including approximately a decade of service with the Penn State Football Lettermen’s Club (@psuflc) as a board member and president. Today, he is back at his alma mater leading fundraising, alumni engagement, and philanthropic strategy for the College of the Liberal Arts.

From student-athlete and student leader to higher education executive and longtime volunteer, Lydell’s Penn State experience has been defined by leadership, service, and creating opportunities for others.

Help us congratulate Lydell on his selection to the 2026 @psuhomecoming Court! 💙🤍
