@pennstate International Politics and Communication Arts and Sciences student Jansen Hoffard spent his summer interning in Washington, D.C., as part of the inaugural Semester in Washington Program.

In D.C., the Paterno Fellow interned with @itsamerica where he participated in legislative analysis, reviewed developments from the US Department of Transportation, and completed a capstone project, “On Home Soil,” which focused on how numerous cities in America upgraded and repaired their transportation systems to accommodate the influx of people coming to watch the 2026 World Cup.

Applications are open now through Friday, October 2, for the Semester in Washington Program! Housed in the Department of Political Science, the Semester in Washington Program provides funding to @pennstateliberalarts students completing internships at government agencies, think tanks, NGOs, legislative offices, and advocacy groups in D.C. Recipients also enroll in a structured experiential learning course and connect with @PennState alumni mentors as part of the program. Learn more at the link in bio.
