Today marks the sixth annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 🧡

Here in Stó:lō Téméxw (Stó:lō territories), there are many opportunities to learn from the cultures, histories, traditions and contributions of Indigenous Peoples. We encourage our community and visitors to participate, listen, and learn.

Reconciliation is an ongoing journey. We’re grateful to amplify the voices of Indigenous tourism partners including indigenoustourismbc and Stó:lō Tourism.

STETÍS ÍMEXSTOWX
September 30th from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm. An all-ages, free event located at Thunderbird Square at 32388 Veterans Way

The gathering is named Stetís ímexstowx (pronounced Stah-tee-ss ee-mehx-sst-owwhx), a powerful phrase in the Halq’eméylem language meaning “walk beside us.” The name reflects the spirit of the gathering: moving forward together through respect, learning and connection.

Throughout the gathering, there will be many ways to connect:
🧡Story Presentations – hear stories sharing Indigenous history, resilience and culture.
🧡Craft Activities – take part in hands-on activities and learning.
🧡Live Presentations – hear from speakers and community leaders about Truth and Reconciliation.
🧡Semá:th Xó̱:tsa – Luminous Waters Puppet Performance – experience this moving performance at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium (11:30 am & 1:45 pm).
