Ace of Wingz owner Abion Acoy says he ordered DoorDash to his home from his own restaurant, and that his cameras show a different story than the one the driver gave him.

According to Acoy, the driver told him the juice was not included and that the restaurant had run out. He says his restaurant’s cameras show the juice was handed over to the driver, and he shared Ring camera footage from his home. In his video, he accuses the driver of taking it and says he wants his $5 back. These details come from Acoy’s own post, and we have not independently verified the footage.

The incident points to an issue for restaurants that rely on delivery apps. DoorDash says that when a customer reports a missing item, it refunds the customer and can charge the restaurant 25% to 100% of the item price if it finds the restaurant responsible. Merchants can dispute the charge in the Merchant Portal. It’s not clear whether this order resulted in a charge.

Ace of Wingz began in 2021, when Acoy posted on Instagram that he was selling wings. It became a food truck in 2023 and opened its first restaurant on 19th Avenue in Phoenix. The brand now has locations across Phoenix and Peoria, with Tempe listed as coming soon.

Have you ever had items go missing from a delivery order?
