A truck pulled from the bottom of a Scottsdale lake may finally provide answers in an 11-year-old missing person case.

The truck belonged to Andrew Montoya, who was 41 when he was reported missing from Santa Fe, New Mexico, in March 2015. On August 30, an MCSO helicopter happened to spot the submerged vehicle in a McCormick Ranch lake while responding to an unrelated call. Dive teams later recovered the truck and found human remains inside.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the remains are Montoya’s. The Medical Examiner’s Office is working to identify them and determine a cause of death. Police have also said there is currently no apparent evidence of foul play.

One of the biggest questions now is how the truck could have remained underwater in a populated Scottsdale neighborhood for more than a decade without being discovered.

How do you think nobody noticed it for that long? 👀
