Proud to present «The Persistence of Presence» at the National Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo. As a Swiss artist, stepping into this space to showcase my work carries a profound sense of shared heritage.

Ferdinand Hodler is a cornerstone of Swiss art history, and engaging with his legacy as a fellow Swiss creator builds a powerful bridge across time - connecting our shared cultural identity, precision, and visual language to Sarajevo.

This exhibition honors the remarkable story of Jeanne Charles - Hodler’s muse, companion, and the vital link between Switzerland and Bosnia. Together with her husband, Bosnian diplomat Mehmed Ćišić, she brought more than 200 of Hodler’s works into the Gallery’s permanent collection.

Decades later, during the Siege of Sarajevo, these masterpiece collections survived through the courage of former director Azra Begić.

Now on view, my contribution to this enduring legacy translates Hodler’s rhythmic forms, structural symmetry, and emotional weight into glass. By fracturing and sculpting this raw material, I have reinterpreted his iconic vision into a contemporary dialogue - celebrating how our Swiss artistic heritage continues to evolve, transform, and resonate across borders.
