#sayhername On April 13, 2019, Layleen Polanco was arrested. Polanco was unable to afford her $500 bail so she awaited trial for her misdemeanor charges at Riker’s Island, but was sure to mention that she had a seizure disorder during her intake processing. 56 days later, on June 7, 2019, she was found unresponsive in her solitary confinement cell at Riker’s. She was 27. It had later been found out that she had suffered an epileptic seizure. Although there are reports of negligence including: disregard of psychiatrist opposition to place in solitary confinement due to seizures, failure to check on Layleen for extended periods of time, and failure to inform guards who were checking in of her disorder, more than a year later, disciplinary action has just recently started to take place, but no charges have been filed. #layleenpolanco #sayhername #gameday
