College basketball is officially back — and this time, it was OUTSIDE.

Vince Wolfram checks in from Charleston, South Carolina, after TheLinkU Invitational at Credit One Stadium, breaking down everything that stood out from one of the most unique preseason college basketball events of the year.

Vanderbilt and Virginia gave us an early look at two teams with plenty of intrigue heading into the season. Vince breaks down Vanderbilt’s added size, athleticism and depth, Tyler Tanner’s development, and the impact of newcomers like Bangot Dak, Berke Büyüktuncel, Sebastian Williams-Adams and Ace Glass.

On the Virginia side, Vince dives into what stood out from Ryan Odom’s Cavaliers without Chance Mallory on the floor, including Thijs De Ridder’s physical presence, Sam Lewis’ expanding role, Johann Grünloh stretching his game beyond the arc, and what Jan Vide could bring to the backcourt.

Then, it’s time to tackle one of the biggest stories hanging over college basketball: fifth-year eligibility.

Tre White is back with Kansas. Malik Reneau could completely change Miami’s ceiling. And programs across the SEC, Big 12, ACC, Big East and Big Ten have major pieces tied to the ongoing eligibility situation.

Vince breaks down which conferences have the MOST riding on those decisions and why the SEC could have more at stake than anyone.
