Climate solutions are stronger and more durable when the communities most affected help shape them.

That idea was at the heart of the Frontline Resource Institute’s first-ever Climate Justice Hub during #ClimateWeekNYC, where nearly 200 frontline leaders, environmental justice pioneers, youth leaders, researchers, policymakers and partners came together for a day of shared learning and connection.

Across four conversations, participants explored how storytelling can build connection and collective action, how data and lived experience can inform more effective policies, how communities can help shape research and why meaningful community participation must begin before decisions are made.

We all benefit when the people most affected by climate change have the power and resources to influence the decisions that affect them. Complex environmental challenges require many forms of knowledge and expertise, from science and policy to lived experience and local knowledge. Bringing those perspectives together through meaningful partnership can help us understand problems more fully, make better decisions and build broader support for meaningful action.
