Each day, teachers connect curious minds with science. As the foundation for scientific excellence, teachers empower students to begin their journeys in optics.

Optica Fellow Oliver Wright has been intensely curious about science from an early age. Now a pioneer in ultrafast optoacoustics and a lifelong learner, he's a science communicator with a particular enthusiasm for inspiring children to take an interest in science.

With the Optics Suitcase, Wright has brought optics experiments to schools to inspire children with hands-on demonstrations of light science in action. He has also written two children’s books, including Maggie and Magnus the Magnetic Snails, featuring adventurous magnetic snails who must rely on science to survive and outwit their enemies.

Join us in celebrating #WorldTeacher Day and read how Wright encourages students to thrive in optics at the link in our bio.
