Swimming may be an individual sport, but sisters Myra and Marbury have never done it alone.

The sisters recently helped their high school team win a state championship relay, a rare opportunity to compete side by side. But what many people didn't see was the journey that got them there.

Myra spent years searching for the cause of debilitating pelvic pain during races that ultimately required surgery and blood thinners. Marbury battled related energy deficiency in sport (REDs) and disordered eating that affected both her mental health and performance.

Then they found Drs. Aubrey Armento and Lauryn Roth, and other experts, in our dedicated Female Athlete Program. With specialized treatment plans and nutrition support, both found what every athlete deserves: answers, a care team that listened and a path forward.

This fall, Myra will be swimming at stbonaventureuniversity, a Division I program, while Marbury continues competing in high school. They're each pursuing their own goals while still cheering the other on.

"I think swim pulls us together,” Myra says. “We're so similar, but so different at the same time. It's nice that when one sister goes through something, the other can see it too."
