There is a fundamental lie we tell ourselves every time we step onto the court in a bad mood.

Playing an extra two hours when things are going wrong is just a socially acceptable way to punish yourself. The first hour is spent trying to hit the ball clean. The second hour is spent apologizing to my opponent for wildly misjudging the bounce. The third hour is just me standing at the baseline, staring into the abyss, wondering why I pay for premium tennis gear to subject myself to this level of psychological warfare.
