A former American Idol contestant has been convicted of murdering his ex-wife and staging a fake break-in.

Caleb Flynn, 40, of Tipp City, was found guilty by a jury on Sept. 29 of charges including aggravated murder, felonious assault and tampering with evidence.

Flynn had been on trial since Sept. 17 in Miami County Common Pleas Court. The jury began deliberating shortly after 1 p.m. and a verdict had been reached by 3:30 p.m., WLWT-TV reported. He was escorted out of courtroom while holding back tears just after 4 p.m.
