My favorite pastor, Doug Wekenman, preached a few weeks ago about how you have to “hate the fear of regret more than the fear of rejection.”

And that one stuck with me.

A few weeks later, Jared Kleinstein and David Herman were sharing their first iteration of Fresh Tape’s upcoming strategy plan with me, and I saw they wanted to hire someone in a growth marketing role to help shape and tell the Fresh Tape story.

And I thought... why not me?

I’ve loved Fresh Tape for more than seven years. It was my first baby before I had three real babies.

I built our first employee handbook. I’ve decorated three offices, selfishly using colors from my own homes so they always felt a little like home. I started our women’s luncheon. I’ve worked across nearly every corner of the business. And after seven years, I know our story, our people and our clients like I know the back of my hand.

The idea of spending more of my time figuring out how we get the rest of the world to see what makes Fresh Tape, our work and our people so special genuinely excited me.

So, with a little encouragement from Alana Glenn Moritz and Doug’s sermon still in my ears, I decided the regret of not asking would be worse than getting rejected. Thankfully, it worked.

David and Jared were, as they have always been, incredibly receptive to me raising my hand and flexible in figuring out how we could make the transition work.

And today, I officially start my new role as Head of Brand & Growth at Fresh Tape Media. 💛

After seven years of helping build this company, I’m ridiculously excited to spend this next chapter helping more people discover it.

I’ll be sharing a lot more about what we’re building, what I’m learning and probably way too much about Fresh Tape, so prepare to be sick of me. But I also hope I can leave you with some valuable insights along the way.

And if there’s something you’ve been wanting to do but you’re scared of the rejection, I encourage you to take the leap.

Raise your hand for the role. Pitch the idea. Ask the girl or guy out. Book the trip. Call the person you haven’t talked to in too long.

Hate the fear of regret more than the fear of rejection. | 30 comments on LinkedIn
