3 years ago today, Jungkook released '3D (feat. Jack Harlow).'

Following up 'Seven' brought extra pressure, Jungkook admitted, but it also gave him the courage to try something new, and he said he was eager to show a side of himself that his first solo single hadn't. The result was '3D,' a pop and R&B single that the label described as a clever play on the first, second, and third dimensions, capturing the wish to connect with someone out of reach. It was announced right after his Global Citizen Festival set in New York on September 23, 2023, and released September 29 through Big Hit Music.

Jungkook and Jack Harlow never recorded together because their schedules wouldn't line up, though Harlow co-wrote the track and had hinted at it online. BloodPop and David Stewart produced it, and Stewart had previously worked on the BTS hit 'Dynamite.' Teaser clips showing the two playing chess built anticipation, Drew Kirsch directed the main video, and Ojun Kwon directed the performance version. The song later opened the album 'Golden.'

'3D' debuted at number one on the Billboard Global 200 and at number five on both the Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart. That made Jungkook the first Korean soloist with two consecutive UK top-five entries, and the first BTS member with multiple solo Hot 100 top-tens. It topped iTunes in 100 regions, passed 100 million Spotify streams by October 14, and earned a BRIT silver certification in January 2024. A Justin Timberlake remix arrived that November.
