This Hyundai can move sideways, drive diagonally and SPIN IN PLACE — like a crab on wheels. 🦀🚗🤯

Imagine pulling into a parking space without turning the front of the car.

Or driving diagonally down a narrow street.

Or simply rotating the entire vehicle almost like a tank.

Hyundai has demonstrated exactly this kind of movement with its e-Corner System, an advanced wheel-and-steering technology designed to dramatically increase a vehicle’s maneuverability.

The secret is in the wheels. 👀

Instead of limiting the front wheels to conventional steering angles, the system allows the wheels to rotate to extremely large angles, giving each wheel much greater freedom of movement.

That opens up some seriously unusual possibilities.

🦀 Crab driving — the wheels can turn sideways, allowing the vehicle to move laterally.

↗️ Diagonal driving — the wheels can be positioned so the car travels diagonally without pointing directly in the direction it is moving.

🔄 Zero-turn / pivoting — the wheels can be oriented in different directions so the vehicle can rotate around its own center.

This could completely change how vehicles handle tight spaces.

Think about crowded parking lots, narrow urban streets, delivery vehicles or emergency vehicles operating where conventional steering makes maneuvering difficult.

Instead of making a three-point turn…

the car could simply turn itself around. 😳

The technology is especially interesting because it combines several systems that normally have to work within much tighter mechanical limits — steering, wheel motors, suspension and braking — and gives them far more freedom.

Hyundai has demonstrated the technology as a future mobility concept rather than something that means every Hyundai can currently drive like a crab.
